TVS and two fingers presents performances designed to entertain the mind and foster creativity with humor for ALL age audiences. Exciting performances by the three-member troupe utilize original poetry with sound art (using very nontraditional instrumentation) to create "the visual sound." The group specializes in showcase performances and interactive educational programs.
  Questions and Answers

Who are we?

TVS and two fingers is a three-person performing troupe from Fort Collins, Colorado. All three are poets and sound artists. Since their first performance in 1996, they have pioneered "The Visual Sound" and presented it to audiences in theaters, coffeehouses, festivals and schools.

What are we talking about?

"Performance poetry" is the act of presenting poetry out loud to an audience. "Sound art" is the process of using traditional and nontraditional instruments to create a background for the words. Put performance poetry and sound art together and you have a unique art form that TVS and two fingers calls "The Visual Sound."

What do we do?

Performances by TVS and two fingers bring poetry and entertainment together using artful words and enticing sounds to create what one audience member called "emotional channel surfing." The group is just as interesting to watch as they are to listen to and their workshops leave participants thrilled and inspired.

"Poets Out Loud!" is the name of TVS and two fingers' current youth workshop program. The program includes performances that feature interactive situations, intensive workshops in writing, sound art and performance techniques, as well as gala events featuring students and/or the general public.

Why?

Poetry has become increasingly more popular in recent years. It is an expressive art that takes little or no materials- just a willingness to try. Adding sound art turns poetry into something new, interesting and entertaining. The "Poet's Out Loud!" program by TVS and two fingers encourages and inspires young writers to think of poetry in a new way. The group's goal is to foster a more informed appreciation for performing arts and to create new poets and sound artists everywhere we go.

  "The New Season: Live Recordings"

TVS and two fingers release brand new tracks online

What’s featured in “The New Season: Live Recordings” are 4 brand new recordings from a recent band gig at Avogadro’s Number in Fort Collins, 3 tracks recorded live on Fort Collins’ own public radio station, 88.9 KRFC-FM, and 2 pieces recorded live at the Great Stupa of Dharmakaya in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. The tracks- drawn from varying stages in the group’s career, from the very beginning to the very current- find TVS and two fingers in their natural environment- live and on stage. Infectious music, resonating words and those weird instruments the group likes to play- like masking tape, toys, whirlees and much more- are all a part of what makes up “The New Season: Live Recordings.”

The members of TVS and two fingers are Tim Van Schmidt, Mark J. Rosoff and Dave Zekman and the three have been performing their original- REALLY original- material together since 1996. Based in Fort Collins, the group has performed extensively in the Colorado and Wyoming region in schools, nightclubs, libraries, coffee houses and many other alternative venues. They have released several limited edition CDs throughout the years, but the group’s staple is live performance, which makes “The New Season: Live Recordings” a true reflection of this creative and challenging artistic troupe.

Lively Building

Bubbles are bursting like innocence,
squirrels are cracking nuts in spirals,
a frozen waterfall towers over the "wongah" moonbeams.
While treading on dry leaves, the woodpecker speaks to the trees.

In Nepal, monks pray over singing bowls,
purple halos glowing like a still life.
In Loveland, someone's thinking
of company at Grandma's house;
standing in rainbow sunlight,
ringing like a church bell
and shaking like a rattlesnake.
